Overview: Stacie Miller, RN, MSN, MPH "A Population-Based Approach to Colorectal Cancer Screening Among Underserved Individuals" on behalf of SGNA

Colorectal cancer (CRC) remains a significant public health problem both in the United States and Texas, particularly for the uninsured and underinsured. Among cancers that affect both men and women, CRC is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States. Rural, uninsured, and minority individuals are at particularly high risk for poor CRC screening adherence, are more likely to present with advanced stage CRC, and as such have worse stage-specific survival than other groups. This presentation will describe a population-based approach to delivery of CRC screening to this high risk group through mailed outreach and follow-up services across rural counties of North Texas.
