Overview: The purpose of SGNA’s GI/Endoscopy Nursing Review Course: A Self-Study Resource is to supplement the content, training, and practice of those preparing for the ABCGN CGRN exam.
SGNA’s GI/Endoscopy Nursing Review Course: A Self-Study Resource was developed and reviewed by GI nurses with a plethora of experience including as educators, staff nurses, nurse managers, and other subject matter experts in the gastroenterology nursing field.
This program consists of ten online education modules, which contain slides, diagrams, and pre-reading and post-reading review questions. The topic covered include: study skills, infection prevention, sedation, esophagus, stomach, liver, biliary, pancreas, small intestine, and large intestine. A bonus set of 75 digital flashcards are included as an optional activity.
Description: This online self-study resource incorporates key information from the SGNA GI/Endoscopy Nursing Review manual, Gastroenterology Nursing: A Core Curriculum, and the SGNA GI/Endoscopy Nursing Review live offering within a modular format. Participants are encouraged to pair the new online self-study activity with the SGNA GI/Endoscopy Nursing Review manual and Gastroenterology Nursing: A Core Curriculum, along with other ABCGN identified resource materials for their review needs.

Champions learn how to complete in-depth unit risk assessments, apply survey standards from accrediting organizations and build knowledge on leading practices.
Being a Champion also provides an opportunity for your GI/endoscopy unit to become the ‘go-to’ resources for infection prevention questions. They can work with the hospital’s infection prevention committee to review processes, products, education and competencies, and train others on how to follow SGNA standards.

Endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) is a minimally invasive procedure that aids in diagnosing diseases that affect the lung, including infections, cancer and inflammatory processes such as sarcoidosis. EBUS allows for onsite pathologic evaluation and patients typically recover quickly and can go home the same day post procedure. EBUS is an effective and accurate diagnostic tool and it is essential to be familiar with the indications, procedure, and patient care peri-procedurally.
